NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State and Central Michigan met for the second time this season, and the result was the same as the Redbirds were defeated by the Chippewas, 191.725- 194.200, at their annual 'Pack The House' meet at Horton Field House.
Redbird Scoring Breakdown:
• Vault: Central Michigan – 48.325, Illinois State – 48.150
• Bars: Central Michigan – 48.700, Illinois State – 47.050
• Beam: Central Michigan – 48.425, Illinois State – 48.100
• Floor: Central Michigan – 48.750, Illinois State – 48.425
Thoughts from Coach Bob Conkling:
"I think we are better than what we did tonight, considering lineup changes due to illness, injury and missing workouts because of school being closed. We fought really well throughout the meet, but we weren't as sharp as we normally would be. We will get back to work this week and come back strong to send our seniors out on a high note next week."
Team Notes:
• The Redbirds began the meet with a solid performance on vault having three of the top five finishes, however the Chippewa's took the lead after the first rotation 48.150-48.700.
• At the end of the third rotation ISU trailed CMU by two points 143.300 – 145.775
• ISU posted its highest score of the night on the final rotation on floor, scoring a 48.425
Gymnast Notes:
• Anna Marema earned a season high on uneven bars with a score of 9.750 to tie for second
• Gabrielle Cooke tied for first place in the all-around with a score of 38.950, her fourth all-around win of the season
• Cooke earned a 9.825 on beam, earning a season high and tying for first place, and also scored a 9.825 and placed second on floor
• Meredith LaRoche (9.700) and Madison Solka (9.650) finished fourth and fifth on vault behind Cooke
• LaRoche also added a top five finish on bars with a 9.725

• The Redbirds will host their third and final home meet at Horton Field House and honor their seniors on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. against the UIC Flames.
