Wallace Dominates in First Day of Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Senior Trent Wallace led the Redbirds with a strong first day at the Seminole Intercollegiate.

Wallace's second-round 69 (-3) catapulted the senior into an individual fourth-way tie for 6th place in the field. Finishing the first round at even par on the par 72, 6,965-yard course, Wallace came out swinging in the second round and gained 22 spots on the leaderboard over the final 18 holes of the day.

Illinois State currently sits in a two-way the for 10th place, 11 strokes above par and scoring 587 (291-296). Among the teams in the field includes Golfstat top 50 teams Wake Forest, Louisville, West Virginia, and host Florida State.

Coach Ray Kralis said after the round, "While we still aren't as sharp as we need to be collectively, we did have some solid individual performances today highlighted by Trent's three under par effort. David Rauer gave us a key round of 71 in the morning along Dave Perkins and played pretty solid in round two as well. You need contributions from everyone to compete in a field of this strength, so we'll learn from today, put it behind us, and look to take a step forward tomorrow."

Senior David Rauer is second on the squad, tied for 27th individually and is one-over par (71-74), hitting five birdies in the second round. David Perkins is three strokes above par after shooting one stroke under in the first round (71-76).

Sophomore Andrew O'Brien - in his first tournament of the spring season - finished the day with a score of 154 (77-77). Junior Joel Durnford ended the opening day with a 157 (78-79).

The third and final round of the tournament will be tomorrow, teeing off on holes 1 and 10 at 6:30 a.m. CT.
