RIO VERDE, Ariz. – Illinois State placed in a tie for 12th after two rounds in the 18-team Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational field. The second day on the course rounded out the score to 616 (303-313).
Xavier (591) topped the field at the Invitational. Seton Hall (594), Boise State (598), and Western Michigan finishing close behind (605).
After a one-over par 72 in the first round, Becca Black played a six-over par to finish in a 13th place tie. The junior's two round score was 149 (72-77). Caitlin Sims set the pace for the Redbirds on the final day, carding a four-over par 75. The senior finished with a two round score of 151 (76-75). With the use of two birdies on the front nine Sims ended in a tie for 26th.
Morgan Savage had two birdies each round to finish in a tie for 31st place. The junior's two round score on the par-71 course was 152 (75-77). Individual player Tatum King played a 159 (81-78) over two rounds. After carding three birdies on day two, King placed in a tie for 64th place. Junior Paige Seiser ended with a two round score of 164 (80-84) while Emma Sutton ended three strokes behind at 167 (83-84).
The Redbirds are traveling to Florida Gulf Coast University March 11-12 to compete in the Spring Break Shootout.
