ST. LOUIS – After a strong regular season finish as two of the top-five leading scorers in the Missouri Valley Conference, Simone Goods and TeTe Maggett were both selected to the 2019 First Team All-Conference unit, the league announced Wednesday.
Goods, a senior from Omaha, Nebraska, leads the team for the second consecutive season, averaging 17.4 points per game. The senior forward sits 35th nationally and second in the MVC, shooting 54 percent from the floor. Goods also leads the squad and is fourth in the conference, grabbing 7.8 boards per game. She has been named MVC Player of the Week twice this season and surpassed career highs in points (30) and rebounds (15). She tallied eight double-doubles, marking her name in the ISU record books with 12 career double-doubles, which ties for 10th all-time.
Maggett, a junior from North Chicago, Illinois, has been a consistent contributor to the Redbird offense, averaging 15.8 points per game, while dishing out a team-high of 72 assists. The junior guard leads the squad in 3-point shooting, netting 53-of-157 (.338) and has earned Newcomer of the Week four times this season, sweeping the weekly honors once. Maggett set a personal best of 29 points, as she led ISU to victory over UNI for the first time in five years, and notched her first career double-double against Loyola Chicago, adding 24 points and 12 boards.
Missouri Valley Conference specialty awards for Player, Newcomer, Freshman, Defensive Player and Sixth Player of the Year will be announced, in addition to the league's Coach of the Year, at an awards ceremony in between Games 1 and 2 of the MVC Tournament on Thursday, March 14, at TaxSlayer Center in Moline, Illinois.
