ST. LOUIS – Illinois State women's basketball sophomore Paige Saylor received recognition for her excellence on the court and in the classroom, being tabbed to the MVC Honorable Mention Scholar-Athlete Team, the conference announced Tuesday.
Saylor has started four games and appeared in 23 contests after facing some time out early in the season due to injury. The sophomore has made 40 percent of her shots from the floor this season, netting 22-of-55 from the field. The Martinsville, Indiana, native holds a perfect 4.0 GPA and is pursuing a degree in Biology.
The criteria for the scholar-athlete team parallels the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) standards for the Google Cloud Academic All-America voting. Nominees must be starters or important reserves, have played at least 75-percent of a team's games, and must carry at least a 3.20 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
Students must have also reached sophomore athletic and academic status at their institution and must have completed one full academic year at their institution.
