ST. LOUIS – After helping ISU to a shutout win over DePauw last week, sophomores Laura Fitzgerald and Ivon Mihaleva earned the MVC doubles team of the week, announced the league Tuesday.
Fitzgerald and Mihaleva defeated DePauw's Erin Friedrich/Amanda Showalter 6-4 at the No. 3 spot to guide the Redbirds to their third-straight victory. Both Fitzgerald and Mihaleva went on to win their singles matches against DePauw as well, with Fitzgerald defeating Sarah Wilder 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 Spot and Mihaleva downing Lily Cameron 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 at the No. 5 spot.
"I'm glad Laura and Ivon are getting recognized this week," said Coach Maja Kovacek "They have played great tennis together and won some big matches for us."
