NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team will be playing its first midweek matchup at Duffy Bass Field tomorrow, March 19 versus the UIC Flames. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Illinois State Redbirds (12-6)
Illinois State won its series versus Central Michigan this weekend, sweeping a doubleheader on Saturday to defeat the Chippewas 7-2 and 5-4. The 'Birds fell in the Sunday contest 11-2. Illinois State comes into Tuesday's matchup ranked eighth nationally in batting average (.317). Also, the Redbirds hit 11 of their 16 home runs last week in five games.
UIC Flames (6-8)
UIC comes into the matchup on a four-game winning streak. Last weekend, the Flames swept Oakland in a three game series, downing the Golden Grizzlies in Saturday's doubleheader 3-1 and 7-2, and won 4-2 on Sunday. UIC ranks 24th nationally in ERA (3.03) and 19th in walks allowed per nine innings, averaging less than three.

Illinois State leads UIC in the all-time series, holding a 27-11 advantage. The two teams last played in 2015, with UIC winning the game 10-6 in Normal.
