NORMAL, Ill. – The Redbirds are traveling to Lake Jovita, Florida to make their first appearance at the Spring Break Shootout. The 54-hole tournament is being played across two days at the par-71, 6056 yard Lake Jovita Golf Club.
Host Western Kentucky topped the field a year ago, sweeping first place in team and individual scoring. Representing the Redbirds in action this week are Caitlin Sims, Becca Black, Paige Seiser, Tatum King, Morgan Savage, and Emma Sutton playing as an individual.

Format: Two 18-hole rounds on Monday, March 11 and final round on Tuesday, March 12.
Competing Teams: Arkansas State, UALR, Ball State, Troy, Austin Peay, Florida Gulf Coast, Louisiana Monroe, Belmont, Jacksonville, Samford, Oakland, Ohio, Southern Illinois, and Western Kentucky University.
Last Time Out: Due to record-low temperatures and snow in Arizona, the first day of the Rio Verde Intercollegiate was canceled. After two rounds, Illinois State placed 12th in the 18-team field. The five players ended with a combined score of 616 (303-313).
Junior Becca Black led the way for the Redbirds as she finished in a 13th place tie. Her two round score was 149 (72-76). Caitlin Sims played a four-over-par 75 to land in a tie for 26th. The senior's two round score was 151 (76-75).
Morgan Savage had two birdies each round to finish in a tie for 31st place. The junior's two round score on the par-71 course was 152 (75-77). Individual player Tatum King played 159 (81-78) to place in a tie for 64th place. Junior Paige Seiser ended with a two round score of 164 (80-84) while Emma Sutton ended three strokes behind at 167 (83-84).
The Redbirds will tee-off for the first round of the Spring Break Shootout in Lake Jovita, Florida Monday, March 11th at 8:30 a.m.
