SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
In addition to the Redbirds and host Badgers, Friday's meet will feature Marquette and UNI. This meet proves to be an important one for ISU, as it is the last chance for the 'Birds to obtain their desired marks before the 2019 Valley Outdoor Championships on May 10-12.
LAST TIME OUT
The 'Birds were on fire last weekend at the Lenny Lyles-Clark Wood Invitational, hosted by Louisville, breaking one school record and posting an additional seven ISU all-time top-10 marks.
On the first day of the meet, Charde Golliday seized the moment, winning the long jump competition with a meet-record jump of 6.30m (20-08.00) and breaking the ISU school record in the process. With the leap, Golliday took down Angie Taylor's previous school record of 6.24m (20-05.75) that had stood since 1987. As if this wasn't enough, Golliday came back on Saturday and leaped a lifetime personal-best 12.26m (40-02.75) in the triple jump, a mark which ranks eighth all-time in Redbird history. For her efforts, she was named the MVC Female Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Francis Ehigbai earned his own MVC weekly honor, being named the league's Male Field Athlete of the Week after winning the high jump competition in his first meet back since claiming the 2019 MVC Indoor High Jump crown. Ehigbai cleared a Valley-best 2.06m (6-09.00) to claim the victory.
On the track, Cole Maguire got straight to business in the 400-meter hurdles. After finishing second with a time of 52.74, he advanced to sixth all-time in Redbird history.
