NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State women's basketball graduate assistant Brian Ehresman has been promoted to full-time status as the team's Video Coordinator, Head Coach Kristen Gillespie announced Monday.
"We are thrilled to have Brian take on a new role as our Video Coordinator," Coach Gillespie said. "Brian has been a vital part of our turn around and success these past two years. He is passionate about our program and is an exceptional role model for our student-athletes."
Ehresman joined the women's basketball staff in the fall of 2017 as a graduate assistant in pursuit of a second master's in Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity. Prior to his arrival, the 2019 Illinois State graduate excelled in the classroom and on the basketball court at Greenville University.
While at Greenville, Ehresman was a four-year letter winner, a three-year starter, a three-year captain and was a member of the 2016 and 2017 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) regular season championship teams. He was named a Greenville University scholar, a SLIAC Academic All-Conference Team member in all three eligible seasons and received the John Strahl Award, which is given to the top senior in the Sports and Kinesiology department. Ehresman led the team in assists in 2015, averaging 4.0 per game and was named to the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship team in 2017.
He completed a bachelor's in Sports Management and a master's in Business Management at Greenville before adding another degree to his resume from Illinois State. He finished his Greenville master's online for Business Management, while also being enrolled in a master's program at ISU.
Ehresman was forced to redshirt his senior season at Greenville due to injury and finished his fourth year of eligibility in 2017. While playing his final season, Ehresman was a substitute teacher in the Greenville Public School system.
Hailing from Gridley, Illinois, Ehresman is no stranger to the Bloomington-Normal community. Additionally, his mother, Beth, is in the Illinois Sate Athletics Percy Hall of Fame and his younger sister, Rebekah, was an All-American basketball player at Illinois Wesleyan.
"I am thankful to be a part of Coach Gillespie's staff and to help continue to push the program to a championship level," Ehresman said. "I am blessed to be able to learn from and work with high character people who are great at what they do."
