NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State gymnastics team heads to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to take on conference foe Southeast Missouri for the second time this season on Friday, January 31, at 6:30 p.m.
Thoughts from Coach Conkling:
"This is the second time this season we will be competing against SEMO. This time they will have the home field advantage, but I feel the team is ready for the challenge. The team has been improving each competition, and we are looking or that trend to continue."
Against Southeast Missouri:
The Redbirds defeated SEMO 191.300-190.925 in a close matchup on January 17 inside of Redbird Arena … in that meet Sofia Iribarren (bars), Gabrielle Cooke (vault) and Cameron Topp (floor) each took home event wins as the Redbirds won their first dual meet of the season.

ISU defeated Northern Illinois last week 193.625-193.400 in a close back and forth meet … freshman Angelica Labat was named Midwest Independent Conference Newcomer of the Week for her performance against the Huskies … Labat competed strong on vault to post a career-high 9.800 to place second in the event and tied for first on bars with a career-high score 9.825 … senior Gabrielle Cooke tied her career-high score on bars with a 9.825 to tie for first in the event … junior Savannah Remkus posted a season-high 9.825 on beam to tie for the event win.
About the Redhawks:
Last week, the Redhawks recorded their highest team score of the season (191.450) during their loss against Ball State … sophomore Anna Kaziska was named Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week for her two event wins against Ball State … Kaziska posted a personal-best on beam 9.875 and a career-high 39.175 on all-around to win both events … freshman Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso received a career-high 9.800 on bars to win the event and got second in the all-around with a 39.075.
