Redbird Gymnastics Set To Honor Five Seniors vs. BYU

NORMAL, Ill. –  The Illinois State gymnastics team will honor its five seniors on Friday, February 28, inside Horton Field House against BYU at 7 p.m. This will be the final regular-season home meet for the Redbirds, before hosting the Midwest Independent Conference Championship at Redbird Arena on March 20.

Thoughts from Coach Conkling:
"BYU is in the top 20 in the country. This will be the highest ranked team we compete against this season. Our goal is to focus on us and what we can do, along with hitting all our routines.  Everyone should come out to watch some great gymnastics, along with supporting our seniors on Seniors Night."

Redbird News and Notes:
The Redbirds finished second in the Pink Invitational last weekend … Gabrielle Cooke scored a 9.850 on floor to take the event win and totaled 39.075 in the all-around to finish first … she also posted top 10 finishes on vault (9.700), bars (9.800) and beam (9.725) … reigning MIC Newcomer of the Week Angelica Labat tied for second on bars with a 9.875 and third on beam with a 9.775 … she also posted a 9.825 on floor to finish in second and those scores helped her total 38.625 in the all-around to finish third … Sofia Iribarren tied her career-high 9.875 on bars to tie for second and earn MIC Performance of the Week honors … she competed in all-around for the second time this season, scoring a career-high and finishing fourth with a 38.550 … Anna Marema scored a season-high 9.825 on bars to finish in fifth.

BYU defeated No. 5 Denver 196.200-195.175 last week … Adeline Rieder earned a 9.850 on vault to win the event … Abbey Miner finished second on vault with a 9.825 which helped her receive a 38.900 in all-around to finish second … Shannon Evans tied for first on bars with a 9.875 … Elease Rollings scored a career-high 9.900on beam to tie for second … Brittney Vitkauskas finished third on floor with a 9.875.
