Redmond Repeats as MVC Newcomer of the Week

ST. LOUIS – Junior Juliunn Redmond was tabbed the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for the second consecutive week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. This is Redmond's second weekly conference honor and the fourth time this year the women's basketball team has had a player recognized.

Redmond is the first Valley player to repeat as the Newcomer of the Week in back-to-back weeks since Missouri State's Jasmine Franklin did so on Jan. 7 and Jan. 14 during the 2018-19 season.

The junior averaged 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals over the past weekend that saw Illinois State pick up a MVC road win at Southern Illinois before falling at No. 21/24 Missouri State on Sunday. Redmond recorded a game-high 15 points in ISU's 62-54 victory over the Salukis on Friday night, also collecting six boards and adding three steals and two assists. She then posted 16 points in Sunday afternoon's game versus the Lady Bears, shooting 50 percent (7-of-14) on the day while corralling seven rebounds and three steals.

Redmond is averaging 12.7 points per game in Valley play and has scored in double figures in seven of the last eight games.
