SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Three Illinois State track & field student-athletes posted personal-best performances during day one of Notre Dame's Meyo Invite at the Loftus Indoor Sports Center.
Competing in her first 200-meter dash since Jan. 17, sophomore Tori Ortiz ran to a personal-best time of 24.70 seconds to finish 12th overall against some impressive competition that featured 46 runners. Ortiz, who will compete in the 400m and the 4x400m relay tomorrow, sits just outside of the indoor top-10 in the 200m.
Sophomore Eddie Winner, who competed in only his fifth meet as a Redbird today, passed teammate Kellen Kravik on the ISU indoor top-10 list with a personal-best clearance of 5.15 meters (16-10.75 ft.). His clearance ranks him No. 4 in Illinois State indoor track & field history.
Also passing a current Redbird teammate on the ISU indoor top-10 list was senior Hattie Plumb in the 600m. Plumb surpassed Audrey Harrod for the No. 4 spot after clocking in at a personal-best 1:33.54. On day two, Plumb will race in the 800-meter run and the 4x400-meter relay.
Other solid performances from day one came from freshmen Brandon Ratliff and Tyler Klouda. Ratliff ran his second-fastest 60-meter hurdles time of the season (8.25) to advance to tomorrow's semifinals. His time is currently the 11th fastest. Klouda, who competed in the first 5K of his collegiate career, clocked in at 15:14.09.
