ST. LOUIS – Junior forward DeAnna Wilson earned the title of Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for her performance versus Saint Louis (Dec. 20), as announced by the conference office Monday morning. This is the second Valley weekly honor of Wilson's career as well as the second MVC Player of the Week selection for the Redbirds in the last three weeks.
Wilson exploded for a career-high 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds en route to her fifth career double-double in Monday's 77-66 win over Saint Louis at Redbird Arena. The St. Louis-native also only recorded one personal foul while drawing eight fouls from the Billikens.
The forward is the first Redbird to score 23+ points with 13+ rebounds since Dec. 4, 2010 when Emily Hanley had 24 points and 13 boards in a 94-56 victory over UIC.
Illinois State kicks off conference play versus I-74 rival Bradley on Saturday, Jan. 1 at Redbird Arena. Tip-off versus the Braves is slated for 2 p.m. CT.
