NORMAL, Ill. – Over half of the Midwest Independent Conference teams competed against each other Friday night, as Illinois State, Southeast Missouri and Centenary went to work in a tri-meet in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the Show Me Center. The Redbirds came in second in the meet with a score of 194.125 behind the Redhawks in first place with a 195.050.

Thoughts from Coach Bob Conkling:
"We had some good events and some not so good events tonight," ISU head coach Bob Conkling said. "Vault was much better this week for us, and I felt bars was too. However, we just made too many mistakes on floor and beam. It was those two events that SEMO really hit, and we just didn't and that was the difference in the meet."
Team Notes:
• The Redbirds posted their highest score of the night on vault with a 49.100.
• ISU posted five of the top six scores on the event, led by a score 9.900.
Gymnast Notes:
• Angelica Labat took the all-around title with a score of 39.100 … the all-around victory was aided by a pair of event wins on vault (9.900) and on bars (9.775) for the sophomore standout.
• Freshman J'Chelle Heard was second on vault with a career-high 9.825 score and teammates Isabelle Fox and Jazmine Neely tied for third place with scores of 9.800.
• The Redbirds also took the top three spots on bars, led by Labat (9.775), Charlise Doctor (9.750) and Sofia Iribarren (9.700).
• Savannah Remkus tied for fifth on beam (9.775) and freshman Isabella DeCroo was fifth on floor (9.800) for the Redbirds.
