CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Senior Jake Gillum won Illinois State track & field's first Missouri Valley Conference title of the weekend and the first of his career, taking first in the men's mile with a time of 4:13.91 on day two of the MVC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the UNI-Dome.
Caleb Miedema and Jaclyn Greci also posted impressive performances on day two of the MVC Indoor Championships with both athletes jumping onto the Illinois State indoor top-10 list for the first time in their events. After placing sixth in the long jump open on day one, Miedema popped off with a huge personal-best jump of 7.32 meters (24-00.25 ft.) in the heptathlon long jump moving him to the No. 6 spot all-time in school history. He currently leads the heptathlon competition through four events with 3,066 points.
Greci, who had already qualified for the 200-meter dash finals on day one, ran an indoor personal-best time of 55.92 seconds in the 400-meter prelims to advance to tomorrow's finals with the fastest time. She'll look to further improve that time, which ranks No. 10 in school history, in the 400m finals.
