ST. LOUIS – Four Illinois State women's basketball student-athletes were honored with 2021 All-Missouri Valley Conference recognitions, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday morning. Senior Juliunn Redmond was an All-MVC First Team selection with redshirt sophomore Mary Crompton recognized as All-MVC Honorable Mention. Junior Terrion Moore and sophomore DeAnna Wilson were both named to the All-Newcomer Team with Moore also being picked for the All-Defensive Team.
Redmond, a senior from Chicago, Illinois, earned All-MVC First Team honors during the 2020-21 season, after having previously being recognized as the MVC Newcomer and Sixth Player of the Year last year, as well as being selected as All-MVC Honorable Mention. Redmond leads the 'Birds in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.6 points and 6.2 rebounds on the year. Redmond ranks eighth and ninth in the Valley in those categories, respectively.
Crompton, a redshirt sophomore from Iowa City, Iowa, was tabbed All-MVC Honorable Mention. The redshirt sophomore was previously named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Second Team earlier this week. The seventh-best sharpshooter nationally in terms of three-point percentage, Crompton leads the Valley, shooting 46.4% from deep while averaging 11.2 points and 2.6 triples per contest.
Moore, a junior from Kansas City, Kansas, was named to both the All-Newcomer Team and the All-Defensive Team. Moore is averaging 11.1 points per game in her first year with the Redbirds and is ranked fourth in the league with 2.1 steals per game. Moore was honored as the MVC Newcomer of the Week two times during the 2020-21 campaign.
Wilson, a sophomore from St. Louis, Missouri, was selected to the All-Newcomer Team. Wilson is the reigning MVC Newcomer of the Week, earning the title for her performance at Loyola Chicago this past weekend in which she averaged 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in the pair of wins. In her first season at Illinois State, Wilson is averaging 9.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest.
