Redbird Gymnasts Win Final Regular-Season Meet At SEMO

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Illinois State gymnastics team is certainly finishing the regular season on a high note, as the Redbirds posted their second-highest team score of the season of 195.500 to win Friday night's tri-meet with host Southeast Missouri State and Lindenwood at Houck Field House.

Scoring Breakdown:
•    Illinois State: 195.500
•    Lindenwood: 195.375
•    Southeast Missouri: 195.150

Thoughts from Coach Bob Conkling:
"This was an exciting meet that included three MIC teams. With all three teams hitting strongly on all four events, it was a close competition all the way down to the last routine. All three teams had 195+ scores in this competition and we won by a slim margin. The team was strong and stayed focused from the beginning to the end of the meet and I am proud of these ladies."

Team Notes:
•    The Redbirds started on beam and posted a 48.650 as they sat in second place heading to the second rotation.
•    ISU took the lead halfway through the meet, after tying a season-best score of 49.175 to improve its team score to 97.825 headed into the third rotation.
•    Illinois State maintained its lead heading into the final rotation, after posting a 48.850 on vault to bring their score to 146.675 just ahead of Lindenwood.
•    With a score of 48.825 on bars, the Redbirds held on for the win finishing just .125 ahead of Lindenwood in second for the victory.

Gymnast Notes:
•    Reigning MIC Gymnast of the Week Angelica Labat was stellar once again for the Redbirds, winning the all-around for the sixth time this season by posting a score of 39.300 … that was aided by a first-place finish on vault with a 9.900 and finished in a tie for seventh on bars with a 9.775.
•    Cameron Topp was part of a five-way tie for the win on floor with a 9.900 and Mia Quigg was sixth with a 9.875 for the Redbirds.
