DJ Horne Named Third Team All-MVC

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Illinois State sophomore DJ Horne has been named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference third team, announced by the Conference office on Tuesday morning.

Horne, a native of Raleigh, N.C., averaged a team-best 15.3 points per game – fourth best in the MVC – in 23 games played during the season. He has also made 60-of-140 three-point attempts this season, for a percentage of 42.9, both best in the MVC, and his percentage ranks 16th in the country, while his makes per game is 62nd-highest in NCAA Division I.

This season Horne has scored in double-figures 19 times, including five games of 20 or more points. In his most recent game, he scored 34 points off of the bench, the most ever scored by an Illinois State student-athlete against Northern Iowa, and the most points in a game by a non-starter since 1988-89.

In addition to scoring and three-pointers made and field goal percentage, he also leads the team in total field goals, field goals attempted and steals. He is second on the team in assists with 61, and fourth on the Redbirds with 82 rebounds.

Illinois State is set to take on Northern Iowa for the third consecutive time – the first time that has happened within the MVC since the 1919-20 season when Oklahoma State and Oklahoma faced each other in four consecutive games.
