NORMAL, Ill. – The Kristen Gillespie Show presented by Bud Light, featuring Illinois State women's basketball head coach Kristen Gillespie airs tonight on WJBC 1230-AM and on GoRedbirds.com, as Gillespie recaps the regular season and previews the upcoming Hoops in the Heartland Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
Hosted by Greg Halbleib, the Kristen Gillespie Show starts tonight at 6 p.m. Gillespie will be joined by senior guard Juliunn Redmond. Redmond put up 12 points, grabbing five boards and dishing out 3 assists in ISU's final regular season win over Loyola Chicago on Saturday. The senior leads the Redbirds in scoring and rebounding on the season, averaging 13.6 points and 6.2 boards per contest.
The women's basketball team (15-6, 12-6 MVC) will enter the MVC Tournament this weekend on a five-game winning streak as the No. 3 seed. This is the first time ISU has finished third or better in the league standings since the 2012-13 season, which was also the last year that the Redbirds finished with at least 12 wins in conference play.
The Redbirds, who were selected fifth in the MVC Preseason Poll, have now finished better than their preseason predictions in all four seasons under Coach Gillespie.
