Normal, Ill. -- Illinois State redshirt senior Abby Basler has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts against Missouri State last Friday.
This is now the fourth week in a row that Illinois State has earned MVC Offensive Player of the Week. Ashley Santos was given the recognition the first and third week, and Basler was given it during the second week of MVC play.
Basler was the star of the Redbirds' match against Missouri State on Friday night, scoring two goals in Illinois State's 3-0 win. Basler has been crucial in the 'Birds advancing to 2-0 in MVC play so far.
With this week's honor Basler now becomes a four-time MVC Offensive Player of the Week all time. Basler adds this accolade to her already impressive list of honors as a Redbird including: 2020-21 All-MVC Preseason Honorable Mention, 2019 All-MVC Honorable Mention, 2018 All-MVC First Team, and 2018 MVC All-Tournament Team honors.
Basler and the Redbirds return to action again tomorrow as the team travels to Des Moines, Iowa to face the Drake Bulldogs at 7 p.m.
