NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's soccer team will travel to Missouri State for a 1:00 p.m. Wednesday contest, looking for back-to-back wins after defeating Southern Illinois on Saturday, 2-1. The match will be streamed on ESPN3.

SERIES HISTORY
Illinois State leads the all-time series, 21-8-9, having won five-straight against Missouri State. Illinois State is 7-5-3 on the road in the series. The teams have played in each season in ISU's program history and Missouri State is the program that ISU has faced the most in program history (39th meeting). Evansville is second with 30 meetings. The match will be the fourth time the teams have played in September.
Illinois State and Missouri State met on 3/5/2021, a 3-0 win for ISU in Normal. The 'Birds outshot the Bears, 25-4. 2021 graduate Abby Basler scored twice while current junior Allison Baker netted the team's third goal. Current senior Riley O'Brien and current junior Michaela Kirschten recorded assists.

After a ninth-minute penalty kick miss by fifth-year senior Natalie Vaughn-Low and numerous first-half chances, the game went to half at 0-0. ISU came out hot in the 2nd half, with redshirt junior Indianna Asimus scoring 2:01 into the half, assisted by fifth-year senior Sarah LaFayette and senior Riley O'Brien. Junior Katherine Felton provided a 71st-minute insurance goal from 21 yards out, which provided to be vital after SIU scored in the 80th minute.
TWO WITH THREE-PLUS, SIX WITH TWO-PLUS
Fifth-year senior Natalie Vaughn-Low is tied for third in the MVC with four goals while senior Riley O'Brien is tied for the fourth with three. Illinois State is the only team in the MVC with two players with three-plus goals.
In addition to Vaughn-Low and O'Brien, fifth-year senior Sarah LaFayette, redshirt junior Indianna Asimus, junior Allison Baker and junior Katherine Felton each have two goals, making the 'Birds the only team in the MVC with six (or even five players) with two-plus goals.
SANTOS BREAKING RECORDS
Fifth-year senior Ashley Santos broke the program's all-time record for matches started with her 83rd start on Saturday (besting NWSL draftees Rachel Tejada and Kate Del Fava). Santos will also tied the record for matches played held by Del Fava (84) and is expected to break that Wednesday. She is on pace to break the all-time minutes played record on Oct. 17.
