Redbirds compete at two-day MVC Showcase

Chicago, Ill. - Illinois State Swimming and Diving took on MVC foes UNI, Indiana State and UIC over the weekend in the two-day MVC Showcase-North hosted by the Flames.

Highlights:

• Olivia Gonder took home first in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:54.17, which bested her time of 1:55.90 from Oct. 14 vs Illinois and Southern Illinois. In the 200-yard IM, Gonder was third as she finished with a time of 2:09.86. 
• Freshman Giulia Basco secured Illinois State's other win on the weekend with her first-place time of 2:05.74 in the 200-yard butterfly. She also grabbed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best mark of 57.26. 
• Sophomore Diver Eva Reyes posted a 287.15 in the 1M dive, which was good for the best overall score in that event and her second-best 1M score this season. (Behind only 288.9 Oct. 8 vs McKendree). Reyes finished third in 3M with a total score of 255.10.
• The 200-yard medley relay team of Chloe Tyler, Madyson Morse, Giulia Basco and Emma Feltzer grabbed second with a time of 1:45.51, the best 200-yard medley time for Illinois State this season.
• Illinois State's 400-yard freestyle relay was also second at UIC as Morse, Feltzer, Gonder and Walker posted a time of 3:30.47.
• Diana Walker grabbed third in the 500-yard freestyle with her season-best time of 5:09.63. 
• Morse was second in the 200-yard breaststroke by posting a 2:24.01. 
• In the 100-yard freestyle, Feltzer placed third with her season-best mark of 52.79. 
• Freshman Ella Turken set a season best as she finished with a 24.27 in the 50-yard freestyle, which was good for third. 
• Lauren Naeger recorded a strong showing in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing third with a 2:08.31.
