NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State redshirt junior Mary Crompton has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, as announced by the organization Thursday afternoon. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
She is one of 48 NCAA Division I student-athletes named to the prestigious list and the only player from the Missouri Valley Conference. The Iowa City, Iowa-native now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot to be announced in mid-March.
Crompton recently became the first Redbird to ever record 60+ three-pointers in three different seasons, as she went 5-for-10 from deep to finish with 19 points in ISU's win over Valparaiso on Sunday. The sharpshooter is averaging 10.9 points per game during the 2021-22 campaign and is ranked fourth all-time in career triples with 201.
Crompton currently maintains a 4.0 grade-point average while pursuing her master's degree in Biology. She graduated in three years last May, also with a 4.0 GPA while earning a degree in Physiology, Neuroscience and Behavior, and adding a minor in Chemistry.
The shooting guard already owns both ISU's sophomore and freshman three-point records and was one of 14 students to be named a Robert G. Bone Scholar during the 2020-21 season, the highest honor bestowed upon undergraduate students at ISU.
