Jack Anstey to Race at World Indoor Championships

NORMAL, Ill. – Former Illinois State track & field athlete Jack Anstey is set to compete at the 2022 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia on Saturday, March 19. Anstey will represent his home country of Australia in the 1500m with a scheduled race time of 6:31 a.m. CT.

"It's a privilege to represent Australia for the first time and something I won't be taking for granted," Anstey said. "It's always been a dream of mine to compete at a global championship, so I'm thrilled to get my chance and I'm looking forward to getting my opportunity."

Anstey will run in the third of four 1500m heats with the top-two finishers from each heat and the next four fastest times advancing to the final, which is set for Sunday, March 20 at 12:35 p.m. CT.

Entering the race, Anstey holds the 26th fastest time in the field at 3:38.65. He achieved his qualifying time at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational where he placed fourth overall.
