Calvin Named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, 28 Redbirds Selected to Scholar-Athlete Team

ST. LOUIS – For the second year in a row, redshirt senior Logan Calvin was named Missouri Valley Conference Men's Track & Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In addition, 28 Illinois State student-athletes earned a spot on the 2021-22 MVC Track & Field Scholar-Athlete Team.

The MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is given to the student-athlete who had the most combined points at the MVC Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a cumulative GPA above a 3.70.

Calvin, who is an Exercise Science major at Illinois State, has maintained a 3.76 grade point average across his four years. Between the MVC Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Calvin combined for 32 points across five events.

Calvin was crowned MVC Champion in the weight throw at the MVC Indoor Championships, earning his first gold medal of his Redbird career. He also earned All-Valley honors with a pair of second-place finishes in the shot put at both the indoor and outdoor championships, as well as scoring points in both the hammer throw and discus.
