FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Redshirt sophomore Rachel Hickey ran a time of 2:07.59 to finish 22nd overall in the women's 800m as the Illinois State track & field team wrapped up competition at the NCAA West Preliminary Round.
On the 2022 outdoor season, Hickey broke the school record in the 800m at 2:05.06, earned All-MVC honors in both the 800m and 1500m, was crowned a Drake Relays champion and ranks No. 2 in school history in the 1500m.

On Logan Calvin's performance at the NCAA West Prelims:
"We came in with one athlete projected to qualify and came out exactly where we were seeded to in that regard. "Cole had two really solid performances. He was very consistent down the stretch in the post season. Just really proud of him being able to bounce back from injury the way that he did and have his best season ever."
On the Rachel Hickey's performance at the NCAA West Prelims:
"Lots of racing for Rachel here in the postseason. She fought really hard today but was not able to drop her time. It was a really fast 800m today, which would have been a very difficult final to make. She really took the next step forward in her career this outdoor season and represented us very well."
