NORMAL, Ill. – MVC Golfer and Scholar Athlete of the Year Ali Schrock has continued to add to her postseason accolades, as she has become the first women's golfer in program history to be named a CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-American, earning a spot on the At-Large Third Team.
The at-large grouping consists of student-athletes in the sports of beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis, and water polo.
She was named the MVC Golfer of the Year, just the second golfer in program history to earn the honor, and the first in program history to be named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Schrock had originally become one of just two other Redbird golfers – Samantha Richdale (2006) and Katie Jean (2012) – who had been named to the Academic All-District team, announced earlier this summer.
Schrock and the Redbirds ended the 2021-22 season at the NCAA Stillwater Regional, ISU's first NCAA Regional appearance since 2013. Schrock's scoring average of 75.7 was the best on the squad and the sixth lowest in program history. For her career, her scoring average of 76.7 is the second lowest in program history. She was named the medalist at the 2022 Redbird Spring Invitational and was named MVC Golfer of the Week three times during the season.
Alongside Schrock, two other Redbirds – Mary Crompton from women's basketball and Jake McCaw of baseball – to be named an Academic All-American this season. ISU has had three or more Academic All-Americans in the same academic year just one other time since 2002 when in 2018 the 'Birds had four including Collin Braithwaite in baseball, J.D. Lafayette in cross country/track & field, Kate Del Fava in women's soccer and Ali Line in women's volleyball.
