ST LOUIS - Illinois State Swim and Dive sophomores Eva Reyes and Emma Feltzer received MVC Weekly honors after strong performances in Illinois State's dual at UNI last weekend. Reyes received MVC Diver of the Week honors while Feltzer was named the MVC Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Its the second time this season that Illinois State has earned multiple MVC Weekly Honors in the same week after Reyes earned Diver of the Week and Giulia Basco received Freshman of the Week honors Oct. 12.
Reyes is the MVC Diver of the Week for the sixth time in her career and the second time this season. She won the 1M and 3M last weekend in Cedar Falls. In the 3M Dive on Friday, Reyes posted a season-high mark of 287.93 to beat out UNI's Taylor Hogan, who was the 3M champion and MVC Diver of the Year at the 2022 Valley Championships. She dominated 1M on Saturday with a score of 280.13 to round out the stellar weekend on the boards. It was her fourth sweep of 1M and 3M this season.
Feltzer earns an MVC Weekly honor for the first time in her career. She shined for the Redbirds last weekend, picking up 100 and 200-yard freestyle wins at UNI. In the 200 on Friday, she grabbed first with a time of 1:50.69, which ranks second in the MVC this season. To top off the weekend, she recorded a lifetime best time in the 100-yard freestyle en route to a victory for Illinois State. Her mark of 50.73 in the 100 Saturday is tied to lead the MVC this year.
