NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Athletics will host its 13th annual Play4Kay game on Sunday Feb. 5 versus Murray State, fundraising for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the fight against ALL cancers affecting women. Tip-off at CEFCU Arena is set for 2 p.m. CT. ISU Athletics is partnering with the Carle Cancer Institute Normal, Carle Bromenn Medical Center, Mennonite College of Nursing, and the Pantagraph to support the cause.
Illinois State Athletics invites cancer survivors and those who are currently battling to register and receive four free game tickets and access to the pregame reception hosted by the Mennonite College of Nursing at www.goredbirds.com/play4kay. The deadline for registration is Jan. 26.
At halftime, there will be an on-court recognition of all cancer survivors and those currently battling the disease. Any survivor of any type of cancer is invited to participate.
The Illinois State women's basketball program was recognized as a 2022 Play4Kay National Award Winner, as announced by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The Redbirds, who have been named a Play4Kay divisional winner the last seven years, are the first mid-major to sweep the Division I BCS and Non-BCS national awards. ISU has raised over $230,000 for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in their 12 years hosting a Play4Kay game.
As Redbird fans have grown to recognize, Illinois State Athletics looks forward to this event every season, as it allows Illinois State to celebrate and lift cancer survivors, and those currently battling the difficult disease in all its forms.
