Redbird Soccer Closing Out Conference Play Against UIC, UNI

NORMAL, Ill.- Illinois State (3-7-4, 1-4-3 in MVC) takes on UIC at home (4-7-4, 3-3-2 in MVC) and UNI on the road (12-3-1, 5-3-0 in MVC) for its last conference play tilt of the season. These matches, as well as the results of the remaining MVC matchups will determine if the 'Birds will make it into the MVC tournament.

QUICK KICKS 

  • The Redbirds fell 2-0 in both of their last matchups against most Murray State and Indiana State and are looking to finish the season on a high note with post-season play around the corner.
  •  This Thursday, October 18th is the last time fans can watch and support the 'Birds at home on Adelaide Street Field.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS

UIC sits at fifth in the MVC standings, but only have one more overall victory than the 'Birds on the season. The latest UIC victory was against Murray State, 1-0, a team the Redbirds succumbed 2-0 against last week. In its latest matchup, UIC earned a scoreless draw against Belmont.

UNI sits near the top of the MVC pack, currently third in the standings behind only Drake and Missouri State. In its latest matchup, the Panthers fell 1-0 to the Missouri State Bears, while defeating Evansville 3-2 earlier in the week.

SERIES HISTORIES

In the all-time series between UIC and Illinois State, the teams have only played each other a total of three times, with the Redbirds leading the series 2-1. In the last matchup, UIC took the 2-0 victory at home in Chicago.

Against UNI, the teams have played one another 20 times, and the 'Birds lead the series with 11 wins and only one draw. In the latest 2022 matchup, UNI took the three-nil victory on the 'Birds home turf.

Kickoff against UIC is set for 6 PM on Thursday at Adelaide Street Field and 12 PM on Sunday in Cedar Falls against UNI.
