Redbird Gymnastics Announces Three NLI Signees

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State gymnastics head coach Bob Conkling announced the signing of three gymnasts to his program Friday, with the additions of Caitlin Caserta (Arrington, Tennessee), Abbey Harris (Fonthill, Ontario, Canada) and Savannah Ray (Midland, North Carolina.) during the national signing period.

"I'm excited to introduce the three National Letter of Intent signees for Fall 2024 Caitlin Caserta, Abbey Harris and Savannah Ray," Conkling said. "These three gymnasts have different strengths that they will contribute to the team's success. Caitlin is powerful, with the right combination of aggressiveness, control, and skills. Abbey is graceful and has the gymnastic line that judges enjoy. Savannah has the consistency, along with the form and power. I'm excited to coach all three of these gymnasts and can't wait to see what the future hold during their college careers."

ABOUT THE SIGNEES:

Abbey Harris / Fonthill, Ontario, Canada / Quantum Niagara Gymnastics
"Abbey came to our camp and we were so impressed with her gymnastics form and artistry and how much she had improved since we first started recruiting her. She is an all-around gymnast but will especially help us on bars and beam. I would not be surprised if she battles for line-up spots on vault and floor, since she is continually improving her difficulty on those two events.  Abbey took 30th in the all-around at the last Canadian championships and has a very bright future."

Caitlin Caserta / Arrington, Tennessee / Let It Shine Gymnastics
"Caitlin also attended our camp, and we were impressed not only with her gymnastics, but in her outgoing personality.  Caitlin is a powerful gymnast on all four events and with this power, she will especially help us on vault and floor but has the skills and routines to help us on bars and beam as well. Caitlin took 2nd in the all-around at the Tennessee state championships along with 4th on vault, 3rd on bars, 1st on beam and 2nd on floor. We can't wait to have her as a part of our program."

Savannah Ray / Midland, North Carolina / Everest Gymnastics Club
"Savannah was our first commit for Fall 2024 and has continued to improve since committing to us. She is a strong all-around gymnast that will help us on all four events. Her form, consistency and work ethic are just a few of her strengths.  I've been so impressed with Savannah and how she keeps us updated on her progress in the gym. She is a two-time National qualifier, finishing 19th in 2022 and 15th in 2023 in the all-around. She also placed 8th at Regionals in 2023 and at the North Carolina state championships, she took 2nd in the all-around, 2nd on vault and 3rd on beam."
