NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State track and field team is set to travel to Charleston, Illinois to compete in Eastern Illinois' Friday Night Special meet as their last chance to prepare for the Valley Championships.
EIU NIGHT SPECIAL
The action at Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse will begin at 2:00 pm starting with the men's and women's weight throw and shot put following.
Track events will begin at 3:00 pm starting with the men's 5,000 meter run and the 60-meter hurdles following after.
LAST TIME OUT
The Redbirds are coming from a record-breaking weekend. Riley Wells and Rachel Hickey both broke the 800-meter run Illinois State record.
For the men, Wells broke a 25-year-old record in the 800m with a time of 1:48.81.
Joe Boyer and Brandon Ratliff both took home a first-place finish. Boyer in shot put and Ratliff in the 60-meter hurdles.
On the women's side, Hickey clocked a 2:06.63 to break the 800m record. This is the third record Hickey owns.
The women had five first place finishes.
Event Winners:
In the 5k, Mackenzie Brownrigg clocked a time of 17:47.18 greatly improving her personal-best time.
