NORMAL, IL., - Illinois State track & field is set to compete in three different meets on Feb. 3 and 4. A select group of Redbirds will travel to South Bend, Indiana for the Meyo Invite, hosted by Notre Dame. Additionally, a larger group of student-athletes will compete at the Keck Select, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan. Lastly, a group of multi student-athletes, will travel to Waverly, Iowa for the Wartburg Indoor Select.
MEYO INVITE
On Friday, a select group of student-athletes will travel to Notre Dame to compete in the two-day meet in South Bend, Indiana. The action will kick off Friday at 4:00 p.m. with women's long jump and women's shot put. The next field event the Redbirds will compete in is men's long jump at 6:30 p.m. On the track, events will start at 4:30 p.m., with women's 60-meter hurdles followed by men's 60-meter hurdles. Competition will continue through Saturday, starting at 11:00 a.m. with women's triple jump.
KECK SELECT
A larger group will compete at Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Illinois. Events at the Illinois Wesleyan Shirk Center for the Redbird squad will begin on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. beginning with women's and men's weight throw and women's long jump to follow. Track events will start at 11:30 a.m. with 5000 meters.
WARTBURG INDOOR SELECT
A group of Multis will compete at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. The heptathlon will kick off on Friday at 3:00 p.m., with 60-meter dash with the long jump following. The pentathlon will begin at 3:30 p.m. with 60-meter hurdles. Competition will continue Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
Redbirds had a solid weekend in Louisville, with multiple top-10 times and personal-best times/marks at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational.
Women's distance medley squad, Rachel Hickey, San'Toria Harris, Mattison Plummer, and Caroline Meyersran a 11:43.64 time putting them sixth in program history.
Meyers also ran the 3000m where she ran a personal-best of 9:42.12 positioning herself in tenth on the top-10 list.
Women's 4 x 400 relay captured the eighth spot on the top-10 list as well. Student-athletes, Hassy Fashina-Bombata, Destiny White, Nnenna Okpara, and San'Toria Harris ran a 3:44.13. Men's 4 x 400 squad also stamped their name on the top-10 list, sitting at sixth. Raydoffa Braziel, Enyinnaya Nwagwu, Jaylin Holmes, and Junias Holmes ran a 3:14.07.
The Redbirds finished the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational strong and plan on continuing that energy this weekend.
