NORMAL, IL., - Illinois State Track and Field squads started their first day of meets at Notre Dame and Wartburg College. Raydoffa Braziel etched his name into history today, as he ran a time of 1:17.30 in the 600-meter dash becoming a record holder in both program history and the Missouri Valley Conference.
MEYO INVITE
"Braziel has been calling out this 600m record for a week," said Assistant Coach Jordan, "He executed a great race capturing the school record and MVC record"
Additionally, in the 600m, freshman Garrett Slack, ran a personal best time of 1:19.49 placing him fifth in program history.
Enyinnaya Nwagwu ran a personal-best of 21.72 in the 200-meter, moving himself to seventh in program history.
Arianna Walker ran a personal-best time of 7.55 in the 60-meter dash. Walker is now tenth in program history and will race in the final round on Saturday. Sa'Mone Winters also qualified for the 60-meter dash final.
Joe Boyer threw a personal best of 18.45m in shot put, improving his place in program history to third.
The rest of the events will take place on Saturday beginning with women's triple jump at 11:00 a.m. and men's weight throw. On the track, events will begin at 10:00 a.m. starting with the men's 3000 meters run.
WARTBURG INDOOR SELECT
The Redbirds are sitting high on day one of the multis' meet in Waverly, Iowa.
In the heptathlon, Chase Knoblett is in second with a score of 2,627 points. Cade Ward is in fourth with a score of 2,627 points.
In the pentathlon, Kiley Sanders is in first with 3,150 points. Gracie Jessup is in third with a score of 3,130. In fourth is Zofia LeHaw with 3,038 points. Caleigh O'Flaherty is in ninth with 2,504 points.
The rest of the events will take place on Saturday beginning with men's 60-meter hurdles at 9:00 a.m. Women will begin at 11:00 a.m. with shot put.
KECK SELECT
The Redbirds will kick off competition at 11:30 a.m. beginning with men's and women's shot put. With the rest of the field events following. On the track, events will begin at 11:45 a.m. with women's distance medley relay.
