ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Illinois State senior Felix van Dijk has been named the MVC Golfer of the Week, announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
The award is the first career Golfer of the Week award for van Dijk, as he is the third Redbird this season to earn the honor, joining Valentin Peugnet and Alex McCulla.
He is coming off a week in which he was the Redbirds' top finisher at the 38th Annual Louisiana Classics. He placed 15th overall with a three-round 222 with rounds of 72, 74, and 76 over the two days.
This season van Dijk averages 74.2 strokes per round in 23 total rounds, including a season-low total of 67, and over 83 career rounds he has a scoring average of 74.6 strokes per round.
The Redbirds return to action on Sunday, March 26 when the team competes at the Craft Farms Intercollegiate, hosted in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
