WATERLOO, Ill. – The Illinois State women's golf team carded a second-round 323 to remain in fifth place after the second of three rounds at the 2023 MVC Championship, as junior Avalon Woodward climbed six spots into the top-10 with 18 holes to play.
Missouri State holds the 36-hole lead with a two-round 630, with Belmont (637), Murray State (639), and Evansville (640) sitting directly ahead of ISU's 648. Drake (651), Northern Iowa (652), Indiana State (653), Bradley (654), Southern Illinois (657), UIC (677), and Valparaiso (678) round out the dozen schools in the field.
Woodward's final-round 78 has her tied for ninth in the field, as she had 13 pars on the day. Kira Wolf – ISU's first-round leader – tied for the team's second-lowest score on the day with an 81 with nine pars and is tied for 15th. Michaela Kverkova also carded an 81 behind one of the team's two birdies on the day along with nine pars to stand 35th individually. Ali Schrock (83) is tied for 36th, while Dani Grace Schrock (85) – the owner of the team's other birdie on the day – are tied for 31st and 36th, respectively.
The Redbirds will tee off alongside Evansville and Drake tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. off the first hole.
