ST. LOUIS, Mo. – After a top-10 score in program history, Illinois State senior Felix van Dijk has been named the MVC Golfer of the Week for the final week of the pre-MVC Championship season.
He carded rounds of 72, 66, and 69 for the 207, which is tied for the eighth-best tournament score in program history, while the second-round 66 is the 12th-best single-round in program history and tied for the second-best of a Redbird this season. In the event he tied for sixth overall, including behind four golfers from nationally ranked schools Purdue and Oklahoma.
This season van Dijk averages 73.8 strokes per round, second lowest on the team, and in 29 rounds he has eight rounds at or under par with a top-10 finish. His 207 saw him become the third Redbird this season with a sub-210 tournament score.
Over his four-year career with ISU, van Dijk has played in 89 rounds and averaged 74.4 strokes per round, just inside of the top-10 in program history.
The Redbirds next travel to Coal Valley, Illinois, to compete in the MVC Championship starting on Sunday, April 23 at Oakwood Country Club.
