Donovan, Mack Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State gymnastics standouts Kaitlyn Donovan and Jaye Mack were each selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2023 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team on Tuesday. 

The Academic All-District® recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Donovan competed in every meet for the Redbirds during the 2023 season, helping lead the team to their first Midwest Independent Conference championship since 2012. The junior from South Lyon, Michigan, was a stalwart on the floor and on vault for ISU, earning All-MIC First-Team honors on floor with a third-place performance and career-best score of 9.875 at the MIC Championship to land a spot on the podium. She also earned All-MIC Second-Team honors on vault with a 9.750. Donovan currently maintains a 3.57 cumulative GPA in nursing at ISU.

Mack continued her dominance for the Redbirds in her second year at ISU. The sophomore from Kansas City, Missouri took home the MIC individual championship for the second year in a row on floor as she scored a 9.925. That earned her All-MIC First-Team honors on the event, and she also earned All-MIC second-team honors on vault. Her strong performances on floor all season earned her a spot at the NCAA Regional for the second year in a row. She currently maintains a 4.0 cumulative GPA in interior design at Illinois State.
 
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. To be eligible, nominees must participate in 50 percent of the competitions that an institution schedule. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 21 (men) and June 22 (women).
