SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Riley Wells would look to continue the 2023 outdoor season Friday night on day three of the 2023 NCAA West Preliminary Round, competing in the men's 800m quarterfinals.
In the event, Wells finished as the second runner out of qualification for the NCAA Championships. His time of 1:47.93 (season-best) finished as the 12th-fastest in the overall field, as Wells came in sixth in heat three.
Although Wells ran a faster time than both Oklahoma State's Mehdi Yanouri (1:48.16) and North Dakota State's Jacob Rodin (1:48.60), both athletes earn respective automatic bids by finishing with top-three times in heat two.
With tonight's result, the 2023 outdoor season for Wells has come to an end.
