AUSTIN, Texas – Sophomore Taylor Kesner competed in her first NCAA Outdoor National Championships Saturday, earning Honorable Mention All-America honors in the women's discus.
Kesner threw for marks of 47.22m (154-11), 49.43m (162-2) and 49.75m (163-2) to place 23rd in the event. With her first-attempt mark in the first of two event flights, Kesner became the first Redbird to compete in the women's discus at the NCAA Championships since Sydney Laufenberg in 2021.
One of the best athletes in the Missouri Valley in the discus, the sophomore qualified for the 2023 National Championships with a 10th place finish and personal best mark of 15.34m (178-4) at the 2023 NCAA West Regional Preliminary Round.
