AUSTIN, Texas – Junior Mye'Joi Williams wrapped up her 2023 outdoor season on Thursday night at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Austin, Texas.
Competing in the women's shot put, Williams was unable to place an official mark as all three of her attempts resulted in a foul, thus closing another sensational outdoor season for the junior. The reigning MVC indoor and outdoor shot put champion qualified for the 2023 National Championships with a ninth place finish and mark of 17.23m (56-6.5) at the 2023 NCAA West Regional Preliminary Round a couple weeks ago in Sacramento, California.
Competing among the nation's best, Williams is the first Redbird to compete at the NCAA Championships in the women's shot put since Jianna Williams did so in 2015. Among many highlights of her 2023 outdoor season, Williams set a new personal best mark of 17.53m (57-6.25) at the Wisconsin Classic, which is second all-time in school history.Â
