NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State Soccer head coach Marisa Kresge has announced the addition of Jennifer Wandt to the staff for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
A former All-Big 12 goalkeeper at Baylor, Wandt comes to Normal following a professional playing career for Trelleborgs FF in Trelleborg, Sweden. Wandt is the Baylor career and season record holder for shutouts and wins. She also holds the program mark for goalkeeper minutes played in a season. The Brookfield, Wisconsin native was an All-Big 12 second team selection as a senior in 2020, as she posted six clean sheets and finished with a career-best mark with .506 goals allowed and a .896 save percentage.Â
"I am delighted to welcome Jennifer to our staff as she begins her transition into coaching full time," Kresge said. "As a player, Jen has had an incredible career, succeeding in elite environments. Her experience, competitiveness and commitment will further develop culture we are working towards creating. Our goalkeepers are going to tremendously benefit, not only by her playing experience, but her in-depth knowledge of teaching the fundamentals of goalkeeping. I am excited for what Jen will bring to our environment."Â
"I'm really excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the ISU women's soccer staff," Wandt said. "I am looking forward to working with the rest of the staff along with the amazing student athletes ISU soccer has. I can't thank Marisa enough for giving me this opportunity and I am ready to hit the ground running once I get onto campus."Â
Illinois State will open its season with an exhibition match against Purdue-Fort Wayne on August 6 at noon CT.
