FALL CAMP REPORT 5: Red-White Scrimmage Caps Fall Camp

NORMAL, Ill. – With classes starting on Monday, Saturday's annual Red-White Scrimmage was the final time for Redbird players to shine in front of fans at Hancock Stadium prior to the season-opener on September 2 against Dayton. The 60-play scrimmage put an end to Fall Camp 2023, as the focus now shifts to game planning for the Flyers.

The scrimmage consisted of two live punts, punt returns, kickoffs and kickoff returns each and four separate situational periods that included driving the field, an overtime session, a 4-minute drill and a two-minute scenario to cap things off.

Scoring Summary:
•    The first score of the day came during the first overtime attempt, as an eight-yard run by freshman running back Josh Robinson was followed by a 17-yard scoring run to put the first points on the board.
•    On the next attempt in the overtime period, Tommy Rittenhouse connected on a 12-yard gain to tight end Max Ziebarth and then found Jalen Carr for a 13-yard touchdown pass to make it 13-0.
•    The offense made it 3-for-3 in the overtime scenario, as Trazhon Tims broke free for an 11-yard touchdown run on the fourth play of the drive to make the score 20-0.
•    The final score of the day came during the two-minute session, after Rittenhouse scrambled and completed a 28-yard pass to Eddie Kasper on fourth down to the keep the drive alive before Josh Jasek connected on a 23-yard field goal to win the scenario.
