MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The road swing to begin the spring season for the Illinois State men's tennis team continues on Sunday, as the Redbirds travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to take on Marquette in a non-conference match at the Elite Sports Club - North Shore.
"After last weekend, I feel really good going into this weekend against a very good Marquette squad," ISU head coach Mark Klysner said. "They are always one of the top teams in the Big East so I expect a battle on Sunday, but I'm very pleased with how we played last week and I'm very much looking forward to Sunday and seeing more improvement."
About The Redbirds
•   The Redbirds opened the spring season last weekend in Arkansas and Oklahoma, going 0-3 against Arkansas, Tulsa and Oklahoma.
•   The Redbirds were picked to finish fourth in the Summit League preseason poll, behind league favorites Denver and Drake and just behind Omaha.
•   Eight members of last year's squad return this spring, led by 2022 Summit League Player of the Year and two-time All-Summit League selection Nam Pham.
•   Pham was one of six Redbirds who competed at the ITA Midwest regional in October, as he advanced to the main draw in singles while Adrian Dibildox won twice on day one.
About The Golden Eagles
•   Marquette opened the spring season on Saturday, earning a 5-2 decision over Chicago State.
•   The Golden Eagles dropped a 5-2 decision in last year's meeting with the Redbirds, but lead the all-time series against ISU by a margin of 3-2.
•   Marquette has three newcomers joining its roster this season, including sophomores Ivan Vazquez, Teddy Wong, and Cardinal Stritch senior transfer Jasper Schaadt.
•   MU also returns three seniors in team captain Nathan Balthazor, Jan Jauch, Tin Krstulovic, and sophomore Blake Roegner.
