Redbirds Head to Marquette Sunday

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State women's basketball (5-3, 0-0 MVC) takes its three-game win streak up north to battle Marquette (5-2, 0-0 Big East) Sunday inside Al Maguire Center. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on FloSports.

SERIES HISTORY

The Redbirds and Golden Eagles are set to meet for the sixth time all-time on Sunday and for the second consecutive season. The No.19 Golden Eagles escaped with a 64-62 win over Illinois State at CEFCU Arena last season.

Kate Bullman's last-second three didn't fall as Illinois State narrowly fell to No.19 Marquette at CEFCU Arena last season.

WAITE'S WORLD

Caroline Waite put up an impressive shooting performance in her career night vs St Francis, as Waite tallied a career-high 25 points knocking down 7 threes in the win.  She finished one off the program record of 8 threes (Taylor Stewart, 1/20/17 at Missouri State).

Waite hit six-plus threes for the second time in her career as a Redbird, to go with a performance of six threes last season at fifth-ranked NC State. She is the second Redbird to hit seven threes in a game over the last three seasons, joining Paige Robinson (11/20/22 vs Wisconsin) and Mary Crompton (11/20/22 at Dayton).

HITTING THE CENTURY MARK

Illinois State put up 110 points to roll over St. Francis Thursday, the 18th performance in program history of 100-plus points. It marked a CEFCU Arena record and finished second in program history.

It was the third time over the last two seasons that Illinois State has tallied 100-plus points (106 vs Omaha, 11/6/23; 102 vs Chicago State, 11/30/23) and just the second time in program history Illinois State has finished with 110-plus points. Illinois State has reached 100-plus points just four times in the 21st century, with two of those instances coming over the last two seasons.

BALANCED EFFORT

Illinois State tallied a season-high six double-figure scorers in the win over St. Francis. The Redbirds have finished with four-plus double-figure scorers in four-straight games and seven times in eight games to open the season.

Over the last two seasons, Illinois State has finished with 4+ double-figure scorers in 22 games, and 5+ double-figure scorers in nine games. The Redbirds are 18-4 when putting four-plus players in double-figures since the start of the 2023-24 campaign.
