Morse Earns Silver, 'Birds Turn in Relay Record in Day 3 at MVCs

EVANSVILLE, IN. – Seven Redbirds earned All-MVC honors Friday in Day Three of the 2024 MVC Swim and Dive Championships at Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Ind.  

The Redbirds highlighted the day with two school records and one MVC record as fifth-year Madyson Morse brought down her own MVC and school record in the 100y Breaststroke. Illinois State also turned in a 400 Medley Relay school record Friday to earn bronze. 

HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Morse opened by breaking her MVC and School record from last year's Valley Championships, turning in a prelim time of 1:00.29 in the 100y Breast. She earned First Team All-MVC honors for the fifth time in her career with a time of 1:00.38 in the finals. 

  • Chloe Tyler, Morse, Mia Snow and Emma Feltzer capped off Day Three with a bronze medal in the 400y Medley relay, bringing down the school record by a time of 3:40.38. It was the second time in the meet Illinois State has earned a school relay record, after doing so in the 200y Medley Wednesday night. 

  • On the boards, Eva Reyes scored a 358.70 in the 3M prelims, which was her personal best. It marked the second time this season Reyes has surpassed 300 points on the 3M boards. She will compete in the 3M final Saturday evening.  

  • Three Redbirds appeared in their first MVC finals and earned the first All-MVC honors of their careers Friday night. Sophomores Tyler and Delaney Boulden made their first career podium appearances and did so in the same race while also turning in top-ten program times that earned All-MVC Honorable mention. Tyler finished 5th with a mark of 55.48 that is good for second in program history. Meanwhile Boulden went seventh, turning in a time of 56.09 that sits fourth in program history. Snow joined the sophomore duo in earning her first-career All-MVC honor as she finished 4th in the 100y Fly with a mark of 55.10 that's third best in program history and good for All-MVC Honorable Mention. 

  • Olivia Gonder, Sydney Hoff and Emma Feltzer also earned All-MVC Honorable Mention. Gonder brought home her second All-MVC honor of the meet, grabbing 6th in the 400y IM final. She turned in a time of 4:24.67 that is fourth in program history. Meanwhile Hoff appeared in her first MVC final since her freshman campaign, earning 8th in the 100y Breast. Her final time of 1:03.03 Friday is 4th in program history. Feltzer earned All-MVC honors in the 200 Free for the second straight year, finishing 8th with a time of 1:50.38.
