Redbirds Head To California For Meets At UC Davis and San Jose State

NORMAL, Ill. – A spring break starts on campus at Illinois State, the Redbird gymnastics team heads to California for a pair of meets this weekend, beginning on Friday at UC Davis and wrapping up on Sunday at San Jose State.

SETTING THE SCENE
The two meets this weekend will be the final two road matches for the Redbirds, before they wrap up the regular season on March 16 at home against Lindenwood on Senior Night.

Friday night's meet at UC Davis with Alaska Anchorage begins at 9 p.m. CT at the University Credit Union Center. Live results will be available via StatBroadcast on GoRedbirds.com. 

After that competition, the Redbirds will travel to San Jose for a Sunday meet at 4 p.m. CT against San Jose State, Boise State and Yale at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.

"The team is excited and well prepared for our two competitions in California.  We focused on confidence this week and we have looked strong going into this double meet weekend. It will be tough competition both Friday and Sunday, but we like the challenge."

The Redbirds (12-7) head into the meet ranked No. 39 in the country and are looking to bounce back from a fourth-place finish at the Nebraska quad meet last weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska. Illinois State received several strong individual performances, with the best coming from junior Alana Laster who scored a career-high score of 9.925 on the floor to tie for first place on the event and earn MIC Performance of the Week honors.
