ABOUT THE EVANSVILLE PURPLE ACES

Evansville was 37-24 (15-12 MVC) in 2023, going 17-9 at home. The Purple Aces are 15-17 in 2024, including 8-6 at home.

The Redbirds and Purple Aces have met 131 times previously, with Illinois State leading 71-59-1, dating back to 1948.

Illinois State earned a crucial MVC victory in the last meeting (May 2023), behind seven innings from Derek Salata and a home run from JT Sokolove to defeat Evansville 7-2.

PERRY. TANNER PERRY

Junior Tanner Perry finished off a series sweep of Valparaiso for ILS on April 7, throwing six scoreless innings with a season-high 10 strikeouts.

Perry would be recognized for his Sunday showing with the honor of MVC Pitcher of the Week for April 8.

HOME SWEEP HOME

Illinois State secured their second straight series sweep last weekend (April 5-7), defeating Valparaiso at home. The sweep marks the first time ILS has swept back-toback series since April 2019 when the Redbirds defeated Missouri State at home and Southern Illinois on the road.

Against the Beacons, ILS pitching held a team ERA of 0.72, giving up two runs and 12 total hits.

DANNY DINGERS (x2)

Sophomore Daniel Pacella tallied a two-homer, three RBI performance in the series finale at Missouri State on March 31.

With the pair of blasts, Pacella becomes the first Redbird to hit two home runs in a game since teammate Auggie Rasmussen at Indiana on March 13.

Pacella finished the weekend with eight RBIs against the Bears, moving his season total to an MVC-best 37 in 2024.

'BIRDS WITH TWO-HOMER GAMES

Since 2004, there have been 24 instances where a Redbird has hit for two home runs in a game (1,083 games).

Of the previous 24 instances, only one Redbird has hit two home runs in the same inning: senior Auggie Rasmussen at Indiana on March 13.

Rasmussen joins Daniel Pacella, Ryan Cermak, Zach Amrein, and Ryan Court as the only Redbirds to have a two home-run game on multiple occasions.

WEATHER ISSUES

ISU has had games against Saint Louis (2/18), Iowa (3/26), Illinois (4/2), and SIUE (4/3) cancelled due to weather.

Illinois State's schedule is now down to 53 games with room to add three games to reach the maximum of 56.
